Trestles and Planks
for your work place
The right trestle and plank for the job
Selecting the length plank you need.
Select a trestle
of sufficient length to reach the working height.
Inspection of your trestle and planks.
- Inspect upon receipt and before use. Never climb or work on damaged, bent or cracked trestles. All working parts must be in good working order.
- Make sure rungs are free from welding cracks and that nuts and bolts are tight. Use rust preventive oil on hinge nuts and bolts.
- Keep trestles clean, free from grease, oil, mud, snow, wet paint, cement and any other slippery materials.
- Keep your shoes clean. Leather shoes should not be used.
- Never make temporary repairs to damaged parts.
- Destroy any trestle or plank exposed to fire or chemical corrosion.
Proper set up.
- DANGER! Aluminium trestles conduct electricity. Do not allow trestles to come into contact with live electrical wires.
- Trestle ladders should only be used in the fully open position.
- Place on firm level surface with secure footing. Do not use on slippery surfaces.
- Do not place on a scaffold to gain extra height. Use trestle feet adjusters for uneven ground only.
- Do not use above 2 metres. A maximum span of 5.5 metres is accepted if two aluminium planks are tied together.
- If trestle systems are used on soft ground, use suitable sole plates. Do not use bricks, concrete blocks or any type of off-cuts.
- Allowable overhang on plank platforms is from 250mm to 300mm maximum.
- Adjust feet to suit ground level conditions.
Proper use.
- Do not use trestles if you are subject to fainting spells, on medication, under the influence of alcohol, physically impaired or tire easily.
- To protect children, do not leave trestles set up and unattended.
- Make sure trestles are in fully opened position.
- Face trestle when climbing up or down and keep body centered between rails
- Maintain a firm grip – use both hands when climbing up or down.
- Do not use trestles in high winds.
- Only re-adjust a trestle while standing on the floor or ground.
- Do not over reach – move trestles when needed.
- Do not overload.
- Keep trestles and platforms as close as is practical to work area.
Proper Care and Maintenance.
- Store trestles and planks in a safe and dry place.
- Check hinge nuts and bolts when setting up.
- Check guard rail springs, pins and graspers for damage or wear.
- Styles or rungs must be scrapped if their surface is kinked or severely bent
- Working platforms should be maintained in a tidy condition. Any build up of material debris should be removed.
Warning.
These trestles and planks are not designed for use for bricklayers, block layers, or where a load exceeds 225kg.
